Measures underway to increase agri production, economic prosperity : Dy CM | KNO

JAMMU, JANUARY 25 (KNO) : Deputy Chief Minster Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the government has undertaken several welfare initiatives to ensure that the farmers get the requisite technological and monitoring interventions so that there is increase in agricultural production which would consequently result in their economical uplift. The Deputy Chief Minster was addressing a mammoth gathering of KissanMorcha in Bishnah here today.R.S Chib president KissanMorcha was also present. While referring to the several initiatives taken by the central and the state government, Dr Singh said that these would go a long way in ensuring that the lot of farming community and agriculturists gets the requisite upliftment. He said that the government is aware of the problems being faced by this vital community of our society and the welfare programmes undertaken would ensure that these are redressed properly and economic emancipation of these is ensured. Deputy Chief Minister while referring to the initiatives being undertaken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said that they would ensure that the farmer’s income is doubled by 20222 and the state has also adopted them. He said that new scientific interventions in the agriculture sector would also give the requisite boost to the agricultural produce and the farming community should also adopt these. Dr Singh said that the recent measure of the central government to enhance the compensation to the border shelling victims would also provide the necessary assistance to the people residing there who are mostly agriculturists. He said that the quantum of assistance has been increased vis a vis,the house damages, livestock and other related things which would provide the necessary succor to these who have to bare brunt of the border shelling. While referring to the conduct of panchayat elections in the state, the Deputy Chief Minister said the vibrant panchayats would ensure effective decentralization of powers to the gross root level besides also ensuring the proper implementation and formulation of the developmental plans of the rural areas making them area and need based. He said that the people living in rural areas especially the farming community should also participate in these in large numbers. The DY CM later met the ring road affected farmers union who projected several issues a related to the acquisition and compensation to the people whose properties are to be acquired while undertaking work on the prestigious ring road project. The DY CM assured them that all their genuine concerns would be taken care of and redressed properly.(KNO)
